Straps


Our straps are made from three different types of leather, and although in some cases there is no great difference in thickness, there is a marked difference in terms of severity! This range started when a regular customer asked if we could make her an item that resembled a tawse in shape, but without the tails. All straps have carefully rounded and hand polished edges.

THE LOCHGELLY TYPE NARROW STRAP (Medium) - £27.50 - Color:

This strap is made from a fairly supple hide that is a minumum of 3/16" thick. It is 24" long and 1 1/4" wide and the same handle shape as a two tail Lochgelly tawse. It has the makers stamp and the letter M for medium weight.
 
THE LOCHGELLY TYPE WIDE STRAP (Medium) - £33.00 - Color:

This strap is made from a fairly supple hide that is a minumum of 3/16" thick. It is 24" long and 1 1/2" wide and the same handle shape as a three tail Lochgelly tawse. It has the makers stamp and the letter M for medium weight.
 
THE GLASGOW TYPE STRAP (Medium) - £35.20 - Color:

This strap is made from a fairly supple hide that is a minumum of 3/16" thick. It is 24" long and 1 11/16" wide and the same handle shape as a Glasgow style tawse. It has the makers stamp, but no weight stamp as this was not traditional.

This strap is made from a supple, heavy hide that is a minumum of 15/64" thick. It is 24" long and 1 1/4" wide and the same handle shape as a two tail Lochgelly tawse. It has the makers stamp and the letter H for heavy weight.

This strap is made from a supple, heavy hide that is a minumum of 15/64" thick. It is 24" long and 1 1/2" wide, and has the same handle shape as a three tail Lochgelly tawse. It has the makers stamp and the letter H for heavy weight.

This strap is made from a stiff, hard hide that is a minumum of 7/32" thick. It is 24" long and 1 1/4" wide and the same handle shape as a two tail Lochgelly tawse. It has the makers stamp and the letters XH for extra heavy weight.
